How important are values to your company’s brand and culture? For Flipboard, a social news magazine that launched as one of the first breakout iPad apps in 2010 and now has over 100 million monthly active users, it’s been central to their decision making and their success.

In this interview, I talk with Marci McCue, who heads up the company’s communications and content strategy, about the process she and Flipboard use to identify their values and embed them into the company culture (a very straightforward process that you can use, no matter the size of your company), the importance of civic engagement, and the power of stories.

Marci also shares how she prepares for speaking engagements and the vision curve she uses in her presentations to help brands assess where they’re at with their customers.

Did I also mention that she has hosted President Obama, Al Gore, and Steve Jobs, either at her home or at Flipboard headquarters? How cool is that!?!

This conversation will leave you excited and inspired to be engaged, to make decisions that align with your values, and to share the stories that matter.

As Marci says, “The decisions you make tell the world who you are.”
