Big Changes + Announcement

speaking-back

I made a pretty big decision a couple of weeks ago about my business.

(Tbh, I’m hesitant to write and send this email because I don’t want it to come across as self-indulgent. The reason I’m sharing this with you is because seeing behind the scenes in someone else’s business has proven useful to me, so I hope it does for you too.)

First, let me start with how this change came about.

I was prepping to be in the hot seat of the mastermind I’m in, thinking of the issue I wanted the group to help me with.

Here’s what I initially posted that morning in our private Facebook group:

I think I’d like to focus my hot seat on how to create better coaching packages, meaning better experiences for my clients and better revenue for me. Currently, we do sessions on Zoom and I take notes in a Google Doc and the client gets homework to do. But, I feel like there’s a way to make them more experiential (I’m not really sure the best way to describe what I mean, so I will expand during the call).”

Then, a couple of hours later, after I had let this simmer in my head (exercising is great for that), I added this to the top of the post:

“Addendum: I’ve been thinking some more about this and I think my real struggle is with my business model. I’ve never felt that 1:1 coaching is the best fit for my personality attributes and my strengths. I’m really more of a teacher/trainer than a coach. I enjoy group workshops and facilitating training. I think that’s the experiential part I was alluding to. My 1:1 clients have gotten great results, so I can certainly continue to do coaching, but I’m not sure it’s right for me. So, should I change my business model? Pros and cons? If I do, what’s the best way to communicate that?”

During my hot seat, I got a lot of great ideas, encouragement, and guidance (that’s why I love masterminds – thanks, ladies!).

And by the end, I made the decision to shift my business model away from one-on-one coaching and instead focus on group training and workshops for purpose-driven women entrepreneurs and mission-driven organizations.

The very next day, I received two unsolicited requests for workshops on communications and media training.

A day after that, I came up with an idea for a brand new online group program that’s a powerful combination of the best of training, coaching, and masterminding to help you create and deliver your signature talk (whether it’s a business presentation, a keynote, a workshop, or a TEDx talk – you’ll learn how to create all of these).

This way, I can leverage what I’m best at (teaching and training), you can get the resources, support and accountability you need, and you get to meet, network with, and gain insights from a group of amazing women. Win-win-win!

If you’re interested in joining us, I encourage you to get the details and apply today.

If you’re reading this post, it’s because you want to share a message, have an impact, and grow your business.

Here’s what you can take from my experience: understanding and acknowledging your strengths and your style – and having a person or small group to process ideas with – provides so much clarity and ease.

Ask yourself this week: What do you love doing in your business? What are you naturally good at? Are there any changes you should make to your business model or your speaking strategy?

P.S. I’m limiting the size of the group to 6-8 women so that it will be a personal and intimate experience, so apply today if you’ve been wanting to work on creating your signature talk.
